The internet can be a dangerous place for those that aren't aware of the things that lay all around. As a teacher, my job is to help my students to understand what could be potential dangers that they should avoid.
Online Privacy is one of the big ones. I know many children that will pretty much tell anyone their life story and all about every facet of their lives. They do this in the real world where only a few people can hear them, but if they do this online, that is something that they can never get back. Online privacy allows children to understand that there are things that you should not ever discuss or post about.
Another is Sexting. This is an incredibly dangerous and violating practice that often occurs between two people that are interested in one another. However, these texts can easily be saved and passed around the internet, where they will never go away. This is incredibly embarrassing and should be warned about especially in the classroom where young, vulnerable kids are just taking their first steps into an online world.
That's a great way to explain it! It's true, lots of students are so open about their lives in real life which would be good to warn them so they don't share everything online. I also think that being aware of sexting is important especially with young kids because it can turn things the wrong way if they aren't careful.

I agree, I believe that sexting is a terrible thing because these private conversations can be shared throughout the internet. It is so important that we teach children that things like sexting can be incredibly dangerous, even though sex is a super normal thing.
